THE GREEN ROOM - 34-36 WELLINGTON STREET, LEEDS
MAS Design Consultants Ltd. were appointed to assist with the transformation of 34–36 Wellington Street in the heart of Leeds, bringing two adjoining properties together to create a single, vibrant hospitality venue known as The Green Room.
The project involved the change of use and refurbishment of the existing listed buildings, carefully adapting the historic properties to accommodate a modern bar and entertainment venue while retaining and respecting the character of the existing architecture.
DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
A key consideration throughout the project was the successful integration of the two existing properties into one cohesive commercial space. The design sought to maximise the available floor area while creating an environment suited to the operational requirements of a busy city-centre bar.
Working within the constraints of the existing listed buildings, the proposals balanced the need for modern hospitality facilities with the importance of retaining the character and architectural qualities of the original properties.
PLANNING & APPROVALS
MAS Design Consultants Ltd. provided architectural services to support the change of use and associated refurbishment works, working through the planning requirements associated with the listed building and its city-centre location.
The completed project successfully brought the two properties together to form a distinctive new destination within Leeds, demonstrating how existing buildings can be sensitively adapted to support new commercial uses.
THE RESULT
The Green Room has transformed the previously separate properties at 34–36 Wellington Street into a single contemporary bar and entertainment venue, combining the character of the existing listed buildings with a new commercial use suited to the vibrant Leeds city-centre environment.
