DARIO’S RISTORANTE, DONCASTER
MAS Design Consultants Ltd. were appointed to design a two-storey side extension to Dario’s Ristorante, formerly The Owston Inn, expanding its function facilities and introducing nine self-contained guest apartments.
The extension complements the existing building, providing additional space to support the restaurant’s hospitality offer.
FUNCTION ROOM & FACILITIES
The ground-floor works enlarge the existing function room, increasing its capacity for private dining, celebrations and events. New WCs and supporting facilities serve the expanded space, with the layout designed to work alongside the existing restaurant.
GUEST ACCOMODATION
Nine guest apartments provide a new accommodation offering, each with its own bathroom and kitchen facilities. The layout balances comfortable, practical interiors with shared access and circulation, supporting both short stays and longer visits.
DESIGN APPROACH
The extension’s scale, appearance and relationship with the original building were carefully considered to create a cohesive addition. Internal planning focused on accessibility, fire safety and efficient circulation for guests and staff.
MAS developed the scheme from initial design through to planning approval and detailed Building Regulations drawings. The site’s Green Belt location presented planning challenges, which were successfully addressed to secure consent. Technical coordination with the structural engineer and Building Control supported the scheme’s progression to construction.
THE RESULT
The project expands Dario’s Ristorante’s facilities for dining, events and overnight stays, bringing an enlarged function room and self-contained accommodation together in one location.
Construction is currently underway, with the new facilities expected to open in the near future.
