WRIGHTON & MORTON VETS, MACCLESFIELD

MAS Design Consultants Ltd. were appointed to transform a vacant warehouse at Lyme Green Business Park, Macclesfield, into a purpose-designed, 24-hour veterinary hospital for Wright & Morten Vets.

The project involved the architectural design and fit-out of the existing building, bringing consultation, advanced diagnostics, surgery and round-the-clock animal care together with dedicated client and staff spaces.

DESIGN & FIT-OUT

The layout was developed around the hospital’s clinical and operational requirements, incorporating multiple consultation rooms, separate cat and dog waiting areas, dedicated animal wards and an exotic ward.

A key feature is the dedicated CT scanning suite, accommodating specialist equipment that expands the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities. Its integration required careful coordination of the room layout, equipment requirements, building services and radiation protection.

Further clinical facilities include X-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy, alongside two operating theatres, a preparation room and critical care facilities. Laboratory, isolation, autoclave and clinical waste areas support the hospital’s day-to-day operation.

The technical design coordinated medical gas infrastructure and specialist veterinary equipment with the building’s layout and services. Flooring and clinical finishes were selected to support effective cleaning and infection control, with provision for equipment, secure drug storage and animal accommodation.

A SPECIALIST VETERINARY ENVIRONMENT

Consultation, diagnostic, treatment, surgical and recovery spaces were carefully arranged to support efficient clinical workflows and the separation of animals where required. The layout also accommodates the demands of a 24-hour service, supporting ongoing treatment and overnight inpatient care.

Reception and waiting areas provide a welcoming environment for clients, while offices, staff welfare facilities and supporting spaces meet the needs of the hospital team.

THE RESULT

The completed project brings a vacant commercial warehouse into active use as a fully equipped veterinary hospital, combining routine consultations with specialist CT imaging, surgery and 24-hour inpatient care within one purpose-designed setting.
